Customizable Folders for Recipes#210

D

Add customizable folders so you can sort your recipes by style, “favorite recipes,” or even the time of year you brew a recipe. It will help organize the neverending lists we are all developing with each new brew/recipe.

The Recipe tags functionality was added to help with this.
Now you can add tags to your recipe, and use those tags to filter your recipe list.

Does this apply to my personal recipes or only those shared by others? Because I would like to be able to bookmark my own but looking at the app even on the desktop it seems to be difficult to see how to do so with my recipes. I see something that says what recipes are bookmarked but it says I have none and I don’t know how to bookmark them.

When you edit your recipe on the web or on mobile, you can find the “tags” or “recipe tags” field in the About section.
Add your tags there, and then save your recipe, you can add multiple tags.
Next, when you’re on your recipes list page (my recipes page) on the right side of the screen you can see the recipe filters, click on “Tags” there to expand the section, here you should be able to see your tags.

When you view a recipe from our Find Recipes page, you can click on the bookmark icon to bookmark that recipe.
The same icon can be found on mobile app too.
When you later want to view your bookmarked recipes, you can click on “Bookmarked recipes” from your recipes list page.

Please let me know if you have any more questions regarding this.

Tags are a copeout, members keep telling you what they want, tags don’t solve the problem. You keep telling us what we need. Just give us what we want!

@Dean Squires , sorry that you feel this way.
Let me highlight why tags provide a better way to organise your recipe than folders.
With folders, a recipe can only exist inside 1 folder, if you want the same recipe in multiple folders, you would have to duplicate the recipe.
With tags, a single recipe can have multiple tags, and later when you want to filter your recipes, you can filter by 1 or multiple tags. On top of that, you can apply other search filters.
We won’t be implementing a folder structure in our app.
