I’ve been using the Brewers Friend advanced water calculator for years, but now that I’m part of this ecosystem, I was hoping to use the built-in one here. That said, the below suggestions would go a long way to helping adoption:
Hi Eric, thanks for these suggestions. Regarding our water calculator. We’ve taken the approach of providing a very basic water calculator to rather accommodate for the majority of users who are not at an advanced brewing level. We found that other calculators were quite complex and intimidating and we wanted to give our users something easy and simple to use. That being said, we could look to offer a basic and advantaged calculator in future.
Then to touch on some of your points:
For the last three points we’ll put these on our roadmap as features to consider for future releases.

Per the units: I’m aware I can change it in the prefs, but I may only want to use grams for one salt, not my whole setup, which is why being able to modify this per ion is handy.
But thanks for the consideration: I get that water calcs aren’t.. ‘easy’ to implement.
I’ve been enjoying doing the onlie recipe creation and having the G40 guide the brewday over wifi from my app. The only real think missing in that ecosystem for me is the built-in water app per above. I’m not blocked, can still use what I have in the past. But would be cool if this space was improved ;)
I also have a little suggestion:
I would like the water calculator to take into account if you have some acidiuated malt in the malt bill. For example, when brewing a lager beer, it is common to add 2-3% acid malt in the grain bill to achieve a desired mash PH of 5.2-5.5.
the calculator takes acidulated malt into account.
It would be really nice to have calculation for CRS/AMS. Right now it is not possible and if I want to use CRS/AMS I need to use another calculator and after that move the result to the app.
